So far, I've worked on several different projects. I only finished one so far, a cardboard and bubble wrap training longsword. I made sure to evenly spread the wrap so that the blade could be as uniform as possible, binding it with tape. I also added a ricasso with a larger cardboard tube, which is a blunt part of a sword on the base of the blade by the guard, meant to help you control your opponent's weapon. As for the unfinished pieces, there's a clay Pomni doll, a cardboard ragdoll, and a semi-realistic clay head. The clay head is the least developed; it was made on a whim, and I had, and have, no plans for its completion. The Pomni doll will likely stay unfinished, as i cannot attach the head, since i forgot to attach it before baking and the material is too fragile to poke holes into, and I have no good plans for how to make the hat. The cardboard doll is my main project, despite being started most recently. I was inspired by simpler versions I found scrolling TikTok, and decided to make a more detailed one. The limbs and head are relatively similar to the common design, but i made the thighs a bit more shaped. The torso is entirely of my design, made up of a chest, abdomen, and waist. The waist twists, and are stopped from twisting too far by strings on both sides. The abdomen is connected to the upper chest by a wooden rod, allowing the doll to bend forwards. It can also bend backwards, and using small protrusions on the back of the upper chest, is restricted from total movement, so that it will stop bending at a realistic point. The legs are not yet attached, and it's the next major hurdle. I also used a broken USB cord I found for a tail, and I snapped the prongs off of an old charger for ears. The doll is a kind of beast, I believe.

This week, i worked some more on the demon's souls armet. I wrapped and taped the other side of the jaw, and also found an old cardboard helmet base which i plan to reuse as padding. Next, I will have to do some experimenting to find out what should come next, as finding a good material may eliminate the need to make a pattern for the regular helmet base and visor.
last week i began work on recreating the Fluted Helmet from Demon's Souls. So far, i've repurposed an old cardboard helmet as a base, and put plastic wrap and duct tape over one of the folding plates to make a template that follows the precise round shapes of the helmet.
nothing really happened that week because of the two shortened days, but i did clean up some spilled paint one day (in addition to cleaning up after only myself) |
